Forecast of U.S. Component of The St. Lawrence Seaway Traffic
This report provides forecasts of the U.S. component of the St. Lawrence Seaway traffic during the 1996-2001 period as well as an estimate for 1995. A long-term outlook for the year 2005 is also provided. More specifically, the report includes forecasts for U.S. grain1, bulk cargo2 and general cargo3 that move on both directions: Upbound and Downbound through the Montreal - Lake Ontario section (MLO) and the Welland Canal. For the purpose of this report the U.S. component of the Seaway cargo traffic includes the following major cargo flows: U.S. to Canada, U.S. to U.S., U.S. to Foreign, Foreign to U.S. Forecasts of U.S. grain transshipped through the Lower Canadian St. Lawrence, by type and end markets, are also covered in this report.
